Since 1808 the LeNoir family have operated a general store in the farming community of Horatio, S.C. In 1900 a post office was opened in the store, which the family operates as well. After the death of her husband, Carrie LeNoir
operated the store and served as postmaster for more than 30 years. When Mrs. LeNoir began to show signs of Alzheimer’s Disease, her son Steve LeNoir took over responsibility at the store and post office in addition to
caring for his mother. Unable to give his mother the care she needed, Steve made the hard decision of placing his mother in an assisted living home.
