Out of 250 entrees, 11 inner-city youth from the City of Atlanta where chosen to go on a scientific expedition of a lifetime to the Amazon Rainforest of Peru. The trip was hosted by the Frank Ski Foundation, a 501(C)(3) non-profit dedicated to exposing kids to their future through science, technology, athletics, and the arts.
The goal of the trip was to provide the selected group of 13-15 year old inner-city students with an opportunity to engage and think critically about global environmental issues. The hope is that by exposing them to the identified topics it can help foster the development of the next generation of scientists, policy makers and concerned global citizens needed to confront and address the looming global environmental crisis.
