The J.V. Martin Junior High School auditorium was built in 1912. Now it’s used as a storage room. With the auditorium being condemned, school plays and other functions must be held in the school’s cafeteria which lacks the space needed for many functions. Julia McLaurin, 86, graduated from J.V. Martin in 1937. When asked about the auditorium she said, “We thought it was prettier than anything…Its a storage room now and I almost cry when I pass by.”
